One myth that is completely false is that people with acne don’t wash their faces. The truth is even the healthiest and cleanest people are prone to getting acne. 

Acne is a condition that is often treated with drugs as the instant cure for acne.  With acne, you must determine the source and discover the cause.  Education on acne is especially important during acne awareness month.    Approximately three-quarters of 11 to 30 year-olds will get acne at some time in their life.  Acne can affect people of all races and ages.  The key to controlling acne is prevention, and to follow some common tips for reducing acne.

  1. Follow a daily acne skin care routine that does not dry out the face.  Keep the skin exfoliated too.
  2. Follow a healthy diet - Eliminate dairy and sugar.
  3. Drink Plenty of water - Eliminate the sugar drinks, juices, sodas, energy drinks.
  4. Keep your hair off your face and use a conditioner that does not contain wax.
  5. Change your washcloths morning and night
  6. Change your pillow cases daily
  7. Stay out of the sun and if in the sun, wear a hat and sunscreen that does not cause acne.
  8. Don’t use skin care products that irritate your skin
